Mail art call
Future Vision Mail Art Event to Be a DialogueThe Modesto Art Museum is experimenting with a dialogue mail art event. Visitors to the mail art exhibit Future Vision: The Art of Science Fiction will be able to respond to the exhibited mail art by sending the artist one of their own pieces of mail art. Visitors will have access to supplies to make mail art right in the gallery. The museum will also have address labels for all exhibited mail art available for visitors to use in addressing their mail art. So, if you participate in the event, you may receive one or more pieces of mail art in return from people who see your work exhibited on the walls of the gallery. The museum encourages you to continue the dialogue with additional exchanges of mail art. We are seeking to blur the distinction between artists, curator, and viewer, inviting everyone into an artistic conversation about the future via the mail. Theme: Future Vision: The Art of Science Fiction, all future world views, the future of museums, future mail and mail art, the future of Modesto, the future of art, the future of the future, past future visions, your personal future, etc.Deadline for all entries: 6 December 2006Exhibit: The exhibition will be in Modesto, California, 5-24 February 2007, at the Anderson Gallery.
