Mail Art Call/

Call For Mother's Day Mail Art

DSCF3449_2 Studio Mailbox has been asked to design a window display in a local shop for Mother's Day. I am busy creating some mixed media work and would like to accessorize the exhibit with some mail art!

Please send a handmade postcard (landscape or portrait), any medium, any size, with the theme: MOTHER. This can be broadly interpreted: something for your literal mother, or about motherhood if you are (or want to be) a mother yourself, maybe something for step-moms, pet moms, soccer moms, or in memory of a mom. It is about honoring the role of a mother, which is not even necessarily female.

DSCF3795 The postcards will be installed by punching holes through the top centimeter of the card and weaving a ribbon through them. Please keep this in mind when designing your card, (especially those of you who sew around the edges)! By submitting mail art to Studio Mailbox, you agree to your artwork being displayed publicly as well as the possibility of it being published on the blog.

Three contributors to this project will be randomly chosen and awarded thank you prizes for their participation.

Please send postcards here to arrive no later than Friday, 9th of April, 2010. The exhibit will run from mid-April until mid-May. Check back, there will surely be a post of the installation. (And if I really get it together, maybe even the first ever movie! But I'm not making any promises).

The "eXhibit" image is from page-X in my resolutionary alphabetica. The mom-love image may by used by you on your blog to promote this call for mail art, as long as it links back here. Thanks for helping me. Let's spread the love!
